Island Colony is located about 3 blocks from
the beach on the Ala Wai Canal side of Waikiki a short walking
distance to the famous International Marketplace. 43 stories
high, there are 740 leasehold units or an average of 20 units
per floor. Building was completed in 1979. Most units are in
studio and one bedroom configuration. Amenities include parking
facilities, large pool deck on the 6th floor, sauna, laundry
room, childrens play area, Chinese restaurant on premise
plus a large sundry store. Jefferson Elementary is a few blocks

Aston manages the hotel pool and they seem to sell this property
to tour companies. The lobby sometimes gets crowded with hotel
guests waiting for their tour buses. Security seems to be very
good. Access to elevators is through an iron gate which requires
a passkey. In the evening, a guard is posted by the gate to check
everyone. Guests and residents must show a passkey while their
visitors are required to register.
